Dario Hunt from Nevada has won StatSheet's WAC Player of the Week for February 20th. StatSheet's WAC Freshman of the Week goes to Louisiana Tech's Raheem Appleby.
Hunt was tops in the WAC in rebounding (14.0 per game). He also put up a strong showing in scoring (12.5 pts per game) and shooting (60%). The Nevada senior played well for the Wolf Pack in a win against Cal State Bakersfield and a loss to Iona.
Hunt totaled 10 points and 14 rebounds in 37 minutes in a 61-47 win over Cal State Bakersfield. In the next game he added 15 points and 14 rebounds in a 90-84 loss to Iona.
This is the second StatSheet WAC Player of the Week honor for Dario Hunt. He has also received multiple honorable mentions. The runner-up this week is Keith Shamburger, a sophomore from San Jose State. Honorable mention goes to Wil Carter, a senior from San Jose State.
StatSheet WAC Freshman of the Week: Louisiana Tech's Raheem Appleby
Raheem Appleby averaged 29 minutes while starting both games for Louisiana Tech. His average in scoring (18.5 pts per game) was the best among all WAC freshmen. In a late 58-53 win over North Dakota, Appleby led all scoring for the Bulldogs with 19 points on 50% shooting. Following that in a massive 84-62 win against Central Arkansas, he led all scoring with a 18 point show on 80% shooting.
Raheem Appleby has won the StatSheet WAC Freshman of the Week an astounding 3 times. Kenneth Smith from Louisiana Tech grabs runner-up. Honorable mention goes to D.J. Brown from San Jose State. Hawaii has won the StatSheet WAC Player of the Week award 3 times this season.
